परिखेदपरित्रासाज्जालस्यथाकर्षणेन च । मत्स्या बभूवुर्व्यापन्ना: स्थलसंस्पर्शनेन च
parikhedaparitrāsāj jālasya athākarṣaṇena ca | matsyā babhūvur vyāpannāḥ sthala-saṁsparśanena ca ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—जाळ्यामुळे झालेल्या अतिशय खेद व त्रासाने, जाळे ओढून काढण्याच्या कष्टाने आणि कोरड्या भूमीच्या स्पर्शाने अनेक मासे मरून गेले. हा माशांचा संहार पाहून मुनी करुणेने व्याकुळ झाले आणि वारंवार दीर्घ निःश्वास सोडू लागले।
