क्षत्रियं तूग्रकर्माणं त्वं भद्रे जनयिष्यसि । नहि ते तत्‌ कृतं साधु मातृस्नेहेन भाविनि

Transliteration

kṣatriyaṃ tūgrakarmāṇaṃ tvaṃ bhadre janayiṣyasi | nahi te tat kṛtaṃ sādhu mātṛsnehena bhāvini ||

Translation

भीष्म म्हणाला—हे शुभे! तू उग्र कर्म करणाऱ्या क्षत्रियाला जन्म देशील. भाविनी, मातृस्नेहाच्या मोहात पडून तू जे केलेस ते योग्य नाही. तू आणि तुझ्या मातेनं केलेल्या अदलाबदलीमुळे तुझी माता ब्राह्मण-भाग्याने नियत श्रेष्ठ पुत्राला जन्म देईल, आणि तू भयानक कर्म करणाऱ्या योद्ध्याची जननी होशील.
