शयानं वीरशयने कालाकाड्'क्षिणमच्युतम्‌ । आज ममुर्भरतश्रेष्ठ द्रष्टकामा महर्षय:

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca | śayānaṃ vīraśayane kālākāṅkṣiṇam acyutam | ājagmur bharataśreṣṭha draṣṭukāmā maharṣayaḥ ||

Translation

वैशंपायन म्हणाले—हे भरतश्रेष्ठ! भीष्म वीरशय्येवर (बाणांच्या शय्येवर) अचल भावाने पडून मृत्यूच्या नियत क्षणाची वाट पाहत होते; त्यांचे दर्शन घ्यावे म्हणून अनेक महर्षी तेथे येऊन जमले.
