स्वदेशे परदेशे वाप्यतिथिं नोपवासयेत् । कर्म वै सफल कृत्वा गुरूणां प्रतिपादयेत्
Bhīṣma uvāca | svadeśe paradeśe vāpy atithiṁ nopavāsayet | karma vai saphalaṁ kṛtvā gurūṇāṁ pratipādayet ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—स्वदेशात असो वा परदेशात, कोणत्याही अतिथीला उपाशी ठेवू नये. आणि गुरूंनी ज्या कार्याची आज्ञा दिली असेल, ते यशस्वीरीत्या पूर्ण करून त्यांना नम्रपणे कळवावे.
