अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)

उत्पत्तौ च विनाशे च कारण य॑ विदुर्बुधा: । देवासुरमुनीनां च परं यस्मान्न विद्यते

utpattau ca vināśe ca kāraṇaṁ yad vidur budhāḥ | devāsura-munīnāṁ ca paraṁ yasmān na vidyate ||

ज्यांना ज्ञानी पुरुष जगताच्या उत्पत्ती व विनाशाचे कारण मानतात, आणि ज्यांच्याहून श्रेष्ठ देव, असुर व मुनी यांच्यातही कोणी नाही—त्या परम प्रभूची मी शरण घेतो.
