उद्धव: सुन्दर: सुन्दो रत्ननाभ: सुलोचन: । अर्को वाजसन: शृज्जी जयन्त: सर्वविज्जयी
uddhavaḥ sundaraḥ sundaḥ ratnanābhaḥ sulocanaḥ | arko vājasanaḥ śṛjñī jayantaḥ sarvavijjayī ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—तो उद्धव, सुन्दर, सुन्द, रत्ननाभ, सुलोचन; तसेच अर्क, वाजसन, शृज्ञी, जयन्त आणि सर्वविज्जयी या नावांनीही ओळखला जातो. ही विशेषणे त्याच्या स्वेच्छावताराचे, सौंदर्य-करुणेचे, तेजस्वी स्वरूपाचे, याचकांवरील उपकाराचे, प्रलयकाळातील संरक्षणाचे आणि अजेय सर्वज्ञ प्रभुत्वाचे स्तवन करतात—भक्तिपूर्वक स्मरणाला धर्म मानून।
