एको विष्णुर्महदभूतं पृथग्भूतान्यनेकश: । त्रीललोकान् व्याप्य भूतात्मा भुछुक्ते विश्वभुगव्यय:
eko viṣṇur mahadabhūtaṃ pṛthagbhūtāny anekaśaḥ | trīl lokān vyāpya bhūtātmā bhuṅkte viśvabhug avyayaḥ ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—अविनाशी विष्णू एकच आहेत; तेच महद्भूत, म्हणजे समग्र विश्व झाले आहेत, आणि अनेक रूपांनी विभागले जाऊन निरनिराळ्या जीवांचे असंख्य रूप धारण करतात. त्रिलोकीत व्याप्त होऊन सर्व भूतांच्या अंतरात्मा रूपाने ते विश्वभोग्ता आहेत.
