आधारनिलयोअ<थधाता पुष्पहास: प्रजागर: । ऊर्ध्वग: सत्पथाचार: प्राणद: प्रणव: पण:
bhīṣma uvāca | ādhāra-nilayo 'dhātā puṣpa-hāsaḥ prajāgaraḥ | ūrdhva-gaḥ satpathācāraḥ prāṇa-daḥ praṇavaḥ paṇaḥ ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—तो सर्व भूतांचा आधार व निवास आहे; स्वयंसिद्ध, ज्याचा कोणी कर्ता नाही. त्याचे हास्य पुष्पासारखे विकसित; तो सदैव जागृत, नित्यप्रबुद्ध आहे. तो सर्वांपेक्षा उंच स्थित असून सत्पथाचे आचरण धारण करणारा मर्यादापुरुषोत्तम आहे. तो प्राण देणारा—पडलेल्यांनाही जीवन देणारा; तोच प्रणव ‘ॐ’ आहे, आणि तोच ‘पण’—जो सर्वांशी यथायोग्य, न्याय्य व्यवहार करतो॥
