Educational Q&A

Compassionate, harmless, and self-restrained conduct (dayā, ahiṁsā, indriya-nigraha) bears a concrete karmic fruit: attainment of Svarga and joyful residence there like the gods.

Maheśvara concludes a description of the ideal gentle person’s behavior by stating its result: such a person, through that very character and practice, comes to be in heaven and lives in a divine abode with godlike happiness.
