Kīrtana for the Removal of Impurity

na hi prāṇaiḥ priyatamaṃ loke kiṃcana vidyate | tasmāt prāṇi-dayā kāryā yathātmani tathā pare ||

Educational Q&A

Because life is the dearest possession for every being, one should practice compassion and avoid harming others, treating another’s life as one treats one’s own.

In the Uma–Maheśvara dialogue within the Anuśāsana Parva’s teachings on dharma, Maheśvara states a general ethical principle—compassion grounded in the value of life—supporting broader discussions such as non-violence and moral conduct.
