Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
गुप्त शरणमाश्रित्य भयेषु शरणागता: । अकस्मात् ते मया त्यक्ता न त्राता अभयैषिण:
gupta-śaraṇam āśritya bhayeṣu śaraṇāgatāḥ | akasmāt te mayā tyaktā na trātā abhayaiṣiṇaḥ ||
भयकाळी अभय मिळावे म्हणून अनेक शरणार्थी माझ्याकडे येत. मी त्यांना गुप्त सुरक्षित आश्रयस्थानी पोहोचवूनही अचानक तिथून हाकलून देत असे; शरण आलेल्यांचे रक्षण करीत नसे.
