वयःस्थां च महाप्राज्ञ: कन्यामावोदुम्ति । जो श्रेष्ठ कुलमें उत्पन्न हुई हो

Transliteration

vayaḥsthāṃ ca mahāprājñaḥ kanyām āvodum icchati | yo śreṣṭha-kule utpannā bhavet uttama-lakṣaṇaiḥ praśaṃsitā ca vivāha-yogyām avasthāṃ prāptā | tādṛśīṃ sulakṣaṇāṃ kanyāṃ saha śreṣṭha-buddhimān puruṣo vivāhayet ||

Translation

भीष्मांचा उपदेश—जो पुरुष अत्यंत बुद्धिमान आहे, त्याने विवाहयोग्य वयाला आलेली, श्रेष्ठ कुलात जन्मलेली, उत्तम गुण व शुभ लक्षणांनी प्रशंसित अशी सुलक्षणा कन्या धर्मानुसार पत्नी म्हणून स्वीकारावी.
