Tapas-śreṣṭhatā: Anāśana as the Highest Austerity
Bhagīratha–Brahmā Saṃvāda
इन्द्रेण गुह्मां निहितं वै गुहायां यद्धार्गवस्तपसेहा भ्यविन्दत् । जाज्वल्यमानमुशनस्तेजसेह तत्साधयामासमहं वरेण्य
bhagīratha uvāca |
indreṇa guhyāṁ nihitaṁ vai guhāyāṁ yad bhārgavas tapasehābhyavindat |
jājvalyamānam uśanas tejaseha tat sādhayām āsa mahāṁ vareṇya ||
भगिरथ म्हणाला—“इंद्राने जे गूढ धन गुप्त ठिकाणी—गुहेत—लपवून ठेवले होते आणि जे भार्गवांनी येथे तपस्येने प्राप्त केले, उशनस् (शुक्र) यांच्या तेजाने जाज्वल्य असे ते, हे वरेण्य! मीही साध्य करून मिळविले आहे।”
