तं॑ भुवः शोधनायेन्द्र उवाच पुरुषोत्तमम् । अंशेनावतरेत्येवं तथेत्याह च तं हरि:,उन भगवान् पुरुषोत्तमके पास जाकर इन्द्रने उनसे कहा--'प्रभो! आप पृथ्वीका शोधन (भार-हरण) करनेके लिये अपने अंशसे अवतार ग्रहण करें।” तब श्रीहरिने “तथास्तु' कहकर उनकी प्रार्थना स्वीकार कर ली
Taṁ bhuvaḥ śodhanāyendra uvāca puruṣottamam | Aṁśenāvatara ity evaṁ tathety āha ca taṁ hariḥ ||
तेव्हा पृथ्वीच्या शोधनासाठी (भारहरणासाठी) इंद्र त्या पुरुषोत्तमास म्हणाला—“प्रभो, आपण आपल्या अंशाने अवतार घ्यावा.” तेव्हा हरिने “तथास्तु” म्हणत त्याची प्रार्थना मान्य केली।
