Garuḍa’s Breach of the Amṛta-Guard and Boons with Viṣṇu; Encounter with Indra (Ādi-parva, Adhyāya 29)
mātrā cātra samādiṣṭo niṣādān bhakṣayeti ha | na ca me tṛptir abhavad bhakṣayitvā sahasraśaḥ ||
The verse highlights how desire and hunger, even when legitimized by authority, may remain unsatisfied and can lead to escalating harm; ethical restraint is implied as necessary because mere consumption does not guarantee inner satiation.
Garuda recounts that his mother directed him to eat the Niṣādas, but despite consuming them in great numbers he still felt no satiation, setting up the theme of seeking a more decisive means to resolve his predicament.
