वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights tīrtha-yātrā as a dharmic practice: seeking puṇya through respectful visitation of sacred places, implying humility, reverence, and moral self-cultivation rather than mere travel.
After a preceding event, the subject of the passage proceeds through the eastern regions—Aṅga, Vaṅga, and Kaliṅga—visiting all available pilgrimage sites and sanctuaries there.
