न तथा राज्यसम्प्राप्तिस्तेषां प्रीतिकरी मता । यथा सम्बन्धकं प्राप्य यज्ञसेन त्ववा सह,यज्ञसेन! उन्हें राज्यकी प्राप्ति भी उतनी प्रसन्नता देनेवाली नहीं जान पड़ी, जितनी प्रसन्नता आपके साथ सम्बन्धका सौभाग्य पाकर हुई है
na tathā rājyasamprāptis teṣāṃ prītikarī matā | yathā sambandhakaṃ prāpya yajñasena tvayā saha ||
विदुर म्हणाले— हे यज्ञसेन! राज्यप्राप्तीही त्यांना तितकी आनंददायी वाटली नाही, जितकी तुमच्याशी नातेसंबंध मिळण्याचे सौभाग्य वाटले।
विदुर उवाच
Worldly power (rājya) is not always the highest source of happiness; ethically grounded relationships and alliances (sambandha) can be more fulfilling and more conducive to dharma and social harmony.
Vidura remarks that the parties in question felt less joy at gaining royal power than at securing a relationship with Yajñasena (Drupada), highlighting the political and moral value of kinship ties over mere territorial gain.
