राम उवाच
The verse points to two exemplary models of dharma taught through narrative: the ideal of pativratā-dharma (steadfast marital fidelity and duty) exemplified by Sāvitrī, and the ethical exemplar of Rāma presented through the Rāmopākhyāna. The implied lesson is that dharma is best grasped not only through rules but through lived examples of virtue under trial.
The speaker is indicating the sequence of topics to be learned next: first, the marvelous account praising Sāvitrī’s devotion to her husband, and then, in the same narrative setting, the episode called the Rāmopākhyāna. It functions like a guidepost within the text, directing the listener/reader to upcoming exemplary sections.
