FAQs

This verse highlights sapiṇḍīkaraṇa as the key rite that integrates the departed into the Pitṛ lineage, indicating it is a formal transition in post-death observances.

By emphasizing ekoddiṣṭa and sapiṇḍīkaraṇa, the verse points to the ritual stages through which the departed is supported and then connected to the ancestral realm (Pitṛs), marking progress in the post-death journey.

If one follows śrāddha traditions, this verse supports performing the appropriate rites without excluding women and stresses completing the sapiṇḍīkaraṇa-related obligations within the prescribed yearly window.
