nāma saptatyuttaraśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ dhanvantariruvāca / nāḍīvraṇādirogāṇāṃ cikitsāṃ śṛṇu suśruta / nāḍīṃ śastreṇa saṃpāṭya nājīnāṃ vraṇavatkriyā
Dhanvantari
Concept: Śāstra-guided chikitsā: correct diagnosis and procedure (śastra-karma) applied with disciplined method.
Vedantic Theme: Right knowledge (yathārtha-jñāna) and right action (yukta-karma) reduce duḥkha in embodied life.
Application: For nāḍī-vraṇa and related disorders, open the tract with appropriate surgical instrument and then manage as a wound (vraṇa-vat kriyā), following proper protocol.
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.171.2-3 (formulations and oils for nāḍī/vraṇa); Garuda Purana 1.170.78 (vraṇa-ropana measures)
It shows that the text preserves a surgical-therapeutic tradition: nāḍī-vraṇa is managed by incision and then treated according to standard wound-care protocols.
It does not address afterlife themes; it is a medical instruction passage attributed to Dhanvantari and framed as teaching to Suśruta.
It underscores that chronic sinus/fistulous conditions may require procedural intervention plus systematic wound care; modern readers should seek qualified surgical/medical care rather than self-treatment.
