Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Vata/Pitta/Kapha
Concept: Yukti (rational discrimination) in treatment: align therapy with the patient’s doṣa-specific presentation; avoid blanket measures for sarva-doṣa involvement.
Vedantic Theme: Viveka and niyama in action: right means (upāya) matched to conditions; avoidance of adharmic excess in intervention.
Application: Perform doṣa differentiation via signs and then choose targeted therapies; if a condition is sarva-doṣaja (involving all doṣas), avoid simplistic single-doṣa regimens and proceed with caution/tri-doṣa strategy or referral.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.164.26-29 (symptom-based classification feeding into doṣa-bheda)
It teaches doṣa-bheda—first differentiate the underlying doṣa using signs, then apply treatments appropriate to that doṣa.
It refers to a condition involving all doṣas (a mixed/tridoṣic presentation), which the verse advises to avoid as a treatment target or to set aside due to complexity/unsuitability.
It supports individualized assessment before intervention: identify the pattern (cause/signs) first, then choose targeted remedies rather than one-size-fits-all approaches.
