हस्तिनः पुरुमीढश्च कण्वो ऽभूदजमीढतः / कण्वान्मेधातिथिर्जज्ञे यतः काण्वायना द्विजाः
hastinaḥ purumīḍhaśca kaṇvo 'bhūdajamīḍhataḥ / kaṇvānmedhātithirjajñe yataḥ kāṇvāyanā dvijāḥ
हस्तीपासून पुरुमीढ झाला आणि अजमीढापासून कण्व उत्पन्न झाला। कण्वापासून मेधातिथी जन्मला; ज्याच्यापासून काण्वायन वंशातील द्विज (ब्राह्मण) प्रकट झाले।
