पानीयमात्रमुच्छेषं तच्चैकपरितर्पणम् । पास्यत: पुल्कसोऽभ्यागादपो देह्यशुभाय मे ॥ १० ॥
pānīya-mātram uccheṣaṁ tac caika-paritarpaṇam pāsyataḥ pulkaso ’bhyāgād apo dehy aśubhāya me
त्यानंतर फक्त पिण्याचे पाणी उरले होते, तेही एका व्यक्तीस तृप्त करेल इतकेच. राजा ते पिणार इतक्यात एक चांडाळ आला व म्हणाला—“हे राजन्, मी नीचजन्माचा आहे; कृपा करून मला पाणी द्या.”
This verse highlights that even when water is scarce—only enough for one—compassion and dharma are tested when a needy person asks for water.
He approached those about to drink and pleaded for water, describing himself as afflicted by misfortune—creating a moral moment centered on mercy and generosity.
