Worship of Vishnu through Varṇa-dharma
phalaṃ cārādhite viṣṇau yat puṃsām abhijāyate sa cāha pṛṣṭo yat tena tan maitreyākhilaṃ śṛṇu

This verse frames the teaching that worship of Vishnu is efficacious and yields definite results; the Purana proceeds to specify what outcomes arise from devotion to the Supreme Lord.
He presents the explanation as a direct response to a question—indicating an authoritative, dialogue-based transmission where the fruits of Vishnu’s worship are enumerated and clarified for Maitreya.
Vishnu is treated as the supreme object of worship whose grace governs outcomes; the verse signals a Vaishnava framework where ultimate sovereignty and beneficence rest in Vishnu.
