वृथाटनं था दानं वृथा च पशुमारणम् न कर्त्तव्यं गृहस्थेन वृता दारपरिग्रहम्
vṛthāṭanaṃ thā dānaṃ vṛthā ca paśumāraṇam na karttavyaṃ gṛhasthena vṛtā dāraparigraham
ഗൃഹസ്ഥൻ ലക്ഷ്യമില്ലാതെ അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയൽ, ഫലമില്ലാത്ത ദാനം, കാരണമില്ലാത്ത മൃഗഹത്യ എന്നിവ ചെയ്യരുത്; അതുപോലെ അവിവേകത്തോടെ ഭാര്യാഗ്രഹണം (വിവാഹം) ചെയ്യുകയും അരുത്.
