कन्याजातस्तु कानीनः सगर्भोढः सहोकः मूल्यैर्गृहीतः क्रीतः स्याद् द्विविधः स्यात् पुनर्भवः

kanyājātastu kānīnaḥ sagarbhoḍhaḥ sahokaḥ mūlyairgṛhītaḥ krītaḥ syād dvividhaḥ syāt punarbhavaḥ

വിവാഹമില്ലാത്ത കന്യയിൽ ജനിച്ച പുത്രൻ ‘കാനീന’ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഗർഭിണിയായ സ്ത്രീയെ ഭാര്യയായി സ്വീകരിച്ചാൽ അവളുടെ ഗർഭജ പുത്രൻ ‘സഹോഢ’ (സഗർഭോഢ) എന്നു; സ്ത്രീയെ അവളുടെ പുത്രനോടുകൂടെ സ്വീകരിച്ചാൽ ‘സഹോക’ എന്നു പറയുന്നു. വില കൊടുത്തു ലഭിച്ച പുത്രൻ ‘ക്രീത’ (വാങ്ങിയവൻ) എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ‘പുനർഭവ’ (പുനർവിവാഹിതയുടെ പുത്രൻ) രണ്ടുവിധമെന്ന് പറയുന്നു।
