Pārthiva-pratimā Pūjā-vidhāna — Procedure for Worship of an Earthen Icon
लवणायसतैलानां माषादीनां च दानतः । त्रिकटुफलगंधानां जलादीनां च दानतः
lavaṇāyasatailānāṃ māṣādīnāṃ ca dānataḥ | trikaṭuphalagaṃdhānāṃ jalādīnāṃ ca dānataḥ
ഉപ്പ്, ഇരുമ്പ്, എണ്ണ എന്നിവ ദാനം ചെയ്യുക; മാഷം മുതലായ ധാന്യങ്ങൾ ദാനം ചെയ്യുക; ത്രികടു, ഫലങ്ങൾ, സുഗന്ധദ്രവ്യങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിക്കുക; കൂടാതെ വെള്ളം മുതലായ ആവശ്യവസ്തുക്കൾ ദാനം ചെയ്താൽ പുണ്യം വർധിച്ച് ശിവഭക്തിമാർഗം പുഷ്ടമാകും।

These donations mirror what supports Linga-worship and temple/service life—water for abhiṣeka, oils and fragrances for worship, and food staples for feeding devotees—thereby strengthening Saguna Śiva-bhakti through service (sevā) and generosity.
A practical takeaway is to perform Śiva-pūjā with water offerings (abhiṣeka) and to accompany it with dāna of necessities—especially water and food—on Śiva days (e.g., Mondays or Mahāśivarātri) as a discipline of purification and devotion.
