‘ജീവൻ’ എന്ന പദാർത്ഥം തന്നെയാണ്—അത് ജനിക്കുന്നു, പാശബന്ധങ്ങളാൽ നിരന്തരം ബന്ധിതമാകുന്നു. അതിനാൽ ജന്മബന്ധന നിവൃത്തിക്കായി ‘ജന്മലിംഗം’ വിധിപൂർവ്വം പൂജിക്കണം.
Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva’s doctrine of liberation through Linga-worship to the sages)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Sthala Purana: The verse introduces a doctrinal ‘Janma-Liṅga’: worship of Śiva-as-Liṅga is prescribed as the means to cut the pāśa of repeated birth (janma-pāśa).
Significance: Liṅga-upāsanā is framed as a direct soteriological remedy—cessation of saṃsāric rebirth through Śiva’s grace.
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
The verse frames the jīva as bound by pāśas—karmic and limiting bonds that produce repeated birth—and teaches that devotion to Shiva in the form of the Janma-Liṅga is a direct means to end this birth-bondage, aligning with the Shaiva Siddhanta vision of Pati (Shiva) liberating the pashu (soul) from pasha (bond).
It presents the Liṅga as Saguna Shiva’s accessible, grace-bearing form through which the bound soul can approach the transcendent (Nirguna) reality of Shiva; worship of the Liṅga is thus not merely symbolic but a salvific practice aimed at release from saṁsāra.
The takeaway is regular, reverent Liṅga-pūjā with a liberation-intent (mokṣa-bhāva), ideally supported by japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and disciplined conduct that weakens karmic bonds.
