Afflicted petitioners addressing Lord Shiva (as narrated by Suta Goswami)
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights śaraṇāgati (taking refuge): when beings are overwhelmed by a power beyond them, they turn to Shiva, the supreme Pati, and request dharmic resolution.
Approaching Shiva’s sannidhi mirrors approaching the Śiva-liṅga as Saguna Shiva—seeking protection, grace, and right ordering (anugraha) after confessing one’s condition.
The takeaway is humble surrender and truthful nivedana (reporting/confession) before Shiva—supported in practice by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and seeking Shiva’s grace for what is ‘ucita’ (right).
