Sunartaka-Naṭa Avatāra and Pārvatī’s Boon-Request (Śiva as the Testing Benefactor)
tato menāśu ratnāni svarṇapātrasthitāni ca | tasmai dātuṃ yayau prītyā tadūtiprī tamānasā
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Bhikṣāṭana
Offering: naivedya
It highlights dāna offered with prīti (loving reverence) as an outer expression of inner devotion; in Shaiva thought, such purity of intention refines the heart toward Shiva’s grace.
Though the verse describes a narrative gift, it mirrors Saguna Shiva worship where offerings are made with joy and sincerity; the value lies less in the object and more in the bhakti that sanctifies the act.
Offerings (naivedya/dāna) should be made with a steady, pleased mind while remembering Shiva—ideally accompanied by japa such as the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
