Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Sthala Purana: Key Siddhānta marker: ‘tad-icchayā’—by His will they regain capacity. The Lord’s anugraha restores agency; the mountain is repositioned on the northern shore of Kṣīroda to enable the cosmic rite.
Significance: Affirms īśvara-saṅkalpa as the hidden support of all successful sādhana and yajña; encourages aligning one’s will with Śiva’s dharma.
Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: Restoration phase in Samudra-manthana: the rite is re-enabled by divine will
The verse highlights īśvara-icchā (the Lord’s sovereign will): when beings align with Śiva’s intent, obstacles are overcome and cosmic order is restored, pointing to the Shaiva Siddhānta emphasis on grace (anugraha) guiding action toward dharma.
It reflects Saguna Śiva as the active Lord who directs events in the manifest world; devotees worship the Liṅga as the accessible form through which Śiva’s will and grace operate, transforming circumstances and sanctifying places.
A practical takeaway is icchā-samarpaṇa (offering one’s will to Śiva): recite the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with the intention of surrender, and perform Tripuṇḍra-bhasma application or simple water-offering (jala-abhiṣeka) as an act of aligning action with Śiva’s will.
