Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse articulates the devotional psychology of servitude—‘we belong to him’—central to Śaiva bhakti and Siddhānta dāsya-bhāva.
Significance: Teaches śaraṇāgati and sevā as the path of grace: the gods themselves become exemplars of disciplined service under Śiva’s command.
It teaches Śiva-bhakti through surrendered identity: when one feels “I belong to Śiva,” actions become Shiva-kārya (divine duty) rather than ego-driven karma, aligning the soul (paśu) toward the Lord (Pati).
Śiva-sevanam here points to concrete devotion to Saguna Śiva—service and worship offered as obedience to Śiva’s will, the same spirit that underlies Linga-pūjā where the devotee acts as an instrument of Śiva.
Practice inner surrender while doing worship: repeat the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with the bhāva “madīyam iti” (I am Śiva’s), and perform daily Shiva-sevā such as Linga-abhisheka or offering bhasma/tripuṇḍra with devotion.
