Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakshinamurti
Significance: Shows the Siddhānta progression: casting off āśā (bondage tendency) and stabilizing in dharma and Śaṅkara-dhyāna—preparing the soul for Śiva’s liberating grace.
Mantra: (implied) oṃ namaḥ śivāya
Type: panchakshara
Role: teaching
It teaches that true progress toward Śiva’s grace arises from renouncing craving and expectation, living in dharma, and fixing the mind in Śaṅkara-dhyāna—an inward shift from worldly aims to Pati (Śiva) as the supreme refuge.
Meditation on Śaṅkara here aligns with Saguna upāsanā: the devotee centers mind and conduct on Śiva (often through Liṅga worship), letting outer ritual mature into steady inner contemplation and surrender.
The verse points to disciplined Śiva-dhyāna supported by dharmic living; practically, this is commonly done through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and focused meditation on Lord Śiva’s form or the Liṅga.
