The Manifestation/Origin of the Rāmeśvara Liṅga
इति वश्च समाख्यातं ज्योतिर्लिगं शिवस्य तु । रामेश्वराभिधं दिव्यं शृण्वतां पापहारकम्
iti vaśca samākhyātaṃ jyotirligaṃ śivasya tu | rāmeśvarābhidhaṃ divyaṃ śṛṇvatāṃ pāpahārakam
ഇങ്ങനെ ശിവന്റെ ദിവ്യ ജ്യോതിര്ലിംഗം ‘രാമേശ്വരം’ എന്നു നിങ്ങളോട് പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു; അതിന്റെ ശ്രവണമാത്രം ശ്രോതാക്കളുടെ പാപം ഹരിക്കുന്നു।

Sthala Purana: Concluding declaration (phalaśruti) of the Rāmeśvara Jyotirliṅga narrative: the divya Jyotirliṅga’s very śravaṇa is pāpa-haraṇa.
Significance: Śravaṇa (hearing) of the māhātmya itself is meritorious and sin-destroying; establishes the text as a tirtha-in-sound (śabda-tīrtha) leading toward purification and grace.

It teaches that śravaṇa (devotional hearing) of a Jyotirliṅga’s māhātmya is itself a purifying sādhanā: by turning the mind toward Pati (Śiva), accumulated pāpa is weakened and the aspirant becomes fit for grace and liberation-oriented devotion.
By naming Rāmeśvara as Śiva’s Jyotirliṅga, the text affirms Saguna worship through the liṅga as a concrete, grace-bearing focus in which the infinite (Nirguṇa) is approached through a luminous, worshipable form for devotees.
Regular recitation and listening to the Rāmeśvara Jyotirliṅga māhātmya, followed by liṅga-pūjā with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), is implied as an accessible practice for purification.
