Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Jyotirlinga: Rāmeśvara
Sthala Purana: After receiving Śiva’s boon of victory and His consent, Rāma continues to supplicate; this sets the narrative frame for Śiva’s abiding presence at the spot as Rāmeśvara for the good of the worlds.
Significance: Approaching Śiva with humility (namra-bhāva) and seeking His anujñā is presented as the doorway to siddhi and, ultimately, grace that purifies and uplifts beings.
The verse highlights that true success is Śiva-datta (granted by Śiva) and should culminate in humility and renewed prayer, reflecting the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on grace (anugraha) and surrender.
It reflects the devotee’s personal relationship with Saguna Śiva—seeking His anujñā (permission) and blessing—an attitude central to approaching the Linga with reverence, obedience, and dependence on divine grace.
The posture of sāñjali and bowed head implies devotional upacāra—standing before Śiva/Linga with añjali, offering a simple prayer, and mentally reaffirming surrender (śaraṇāgati), which can accompany japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
