Mantra: oṃ … (svasya nāma) …
It emphasizes that Shiva-worship begins with inner and outer order: sanctifying the seat (āsana) and invoking with Praṇava, aligning the devotee’s identity and intention before approaching Pati (Shiva).
Preparing the āsana is part of formal upacāra (ritual hospitality) offered to Saguna Shiva in Linga-puja; beginning with Om frames the worship in the Vedic-Shivaic mantra current.
Set up a clean, dedicated āsana for worship/meditation, verbally consecrate it, and start recitation with Om—then proceed with Shiva-mantra practice (commonly leading into Panchakshara japa).
