Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; the verse establishes the paramparā (lineage) of transmission: Vyāsa as ādiguru in the Purāṇic teaching context and Sūta as secondary venerable teacher for the present narration.
Significance: Emphasizes śravaṇa (listening) through an authorized guru-paramparā as a means to receive Śiva’s anugraha (grace) via scripture.
It emphasizes the sacred continuity of transmission: Shiva’s truth is preserved through an authentic guru-lineage, where Vyāsa stands as the foundational teacher and the present narrator is honored as the next reliable transmitter.
By establishing trustworthy narration, it safeguards the correct understanding of Shiva’s Saguna forms (such as Linga worship) and the inner Siddhanta meaning behind them, received through competent teachers rather than mere speculation.
The implied practice is śravaṇa (devotional listening) and guru-sevā: hearing Shiva’s Purana from a qualified narrator, then applying it through steady japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined worship.
