The Determination of Śiva as the Meaning of Praṇava
śrutismṛtyuditaṃ karmma kurvva nsiddhimavāpsyati | ityuktamparameśena vedamārgapradarśinā
Lord Shiva (Parameśa), as quoted within Suta Goswami’s narration in the Kailasha Samhita context
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Mantra: śrutismṛtyuditaṃ karmma kurvvan siddhim avāpsyati
Role: teaching
It affirms that disciplined conduct aligned with Śruti and Smṛti purifies the soul (paśu) and becomes a means toward siddhi—qualified progress toward liberation—under Śiva’s guidance as Pati.
It frames Linga/Saguna-Śiva worship within the Vedic order: devotion and ritual are to be performed according to scriptural injunctions, so worship becomes a sanctifying, liberating practice rather than mere external action.
Follow scripturally taught Shiva-upāsanā as karma: daily purity disciplines, mantra-japa (especially Panchākṣarī—Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and prescribed pūjā/vrata performed with right intention and adherence to dharma.
