अष्टादशः सर्गः (Sarga 18): रावणस्य प्रमदावनप्रवेशः
Ravana’s entry into the women’s grove
तथा विप्रेक्ष्यमाणस्य वनं पुष्पितपादपम्।विचिन्वतश्च वैदेहीं किंचिच्छेषा निशाऽभवत्।।5.18.1।।
tathā viprekṣyamāṇasya vanaṃ puṣpitapādapam |
vicinvataś ca vaidehīṃ kiṃciccheṣā niśā ’bhavat ||
പുഷ്പിതവൃക്ഷങ്ങളാൽ ശോഭിക്കുന്ന ആ വനത്തെ അവൻ നിരന്തരം നിരീക്ഷിച്ചു കൊണ്ടും വൈദേഹിയെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു കൊണ്ടും ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, രാത്രിയുടെ അല്പഭാഗം മാത്രമേ ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നുള്ളൂ.
