Rāma’s Lament in Separation from Sītā
videharājo nūnaṃ māṃ dṛṣṭvā virahitaṃ tayā | sutā-snehena santapto mohasya vaśam eṣyati || 3.62.14 ||
Or else, I will not go to the city ruled by Bharata. Without Sita even heaven will be empty for me.
Dharma includes empathy for others’ suffering: Rāma recognizes that Sītā’s loss injures not only him but also her father, widening the moral weight of the event.
Rāma anticipates Janaka’s emotional collapse upon seeing him return without Sītā.
Compassionate awareness—Rāma considers the pain of elders and family, not only his own.
