Aranyakanda 14
तस्माज्जातोऽहमरुणात्सम्पातिस्तु ममाग्रजः।जटायुरिति मां विद्धि श्येनीपुत्रमरिन्दम।।3.14.32।।
tasmāj jāto 'ham aruṇāt sampātis tu mamāgrajaḥ |
jaṭāyur iti māṁ viddhi śyenī-putram arindama ||3.14.32||
ആ അരുണനിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഞാൻ ജനിച്ചത്; സമ്പാതി എന്റെ മൂത്ത സഹോദരൻ. ഹേ അരിന്ദമാ! എന്നെ ശ്യേനിയുടെ പുത്രനായ ജടായുവെന്ന് അറിയുക.
I am born to Aruna and my elder brother is Sampati. O subduer of enemies, know me as Jatayu, son of Syeni.
Dharma includes truthful self-identification and transparency in relationships. Jaṭāyu establishes trust through satya, which becomes the basis for righteous protection later.
Jaṭāyu formally introduces his lineage and name to Rāma, situating himself as a legitimate ally.
Satya (truthfulness) and accountability: Jaṭāyu makes his identity and relations explicit, enabling ethical trust.
