एतद्विधानं परमं पुराणं वेदागमे सम्यगिहोदितं वः । पुरा महर्षिप्रवराभिपृष्टः स्वायंभुवो यन्मनुराह देवः
etadvidhānaṃ paramaṃ purāṇaṃ vedāgame samyagihoditaṃ vaḥ | purā maharṣipravarābhipṛṣṭaḥ svāyaṃbhuvo yanmanurāha devaḥ
വേദ-ആഗമാനുസാരമായി ഈ പരമപുരാണം, അതിന്റെ വിധാനങ്ങളോടുകൂടി, നിങ്ങളോട് ഇവിടെ ശരിയായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. പൂർവകാലത്ത് മഹർഷികളിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠർ ചോദിച്ചപ്പോൾ ദേവസ്വരൂപനായ സ്വായംഭുവ മനു പറഞ്ഞതുതന്നെ ഇതാണ്.
