उपसंगृह्य तत्पादौ वीक्ष्यमाणो गुरोर्मुखम् । अधीष्व भो इति ब्रूयाद्विरामोऽस्त्विति चाऽरमेत्

upasaṃgṛhya tatpādau vīkṣyamāṇo gurormukham | adhīṣva bho iti brūyādvirāmo'stviti cā'ramet

ഗുരുവിന്റെ പാദങ്ങൾ ചേർത്തുപിടിച്ച്, ഗുരുവിന്റെ മുഖം നോക്കി, “ഭോ ഭഗവൻ, എനിക്ക് അധ്യാപനം ചെയ്യുക” എന്നു പറയണം; കൂടാതെ യഥാസമയം “ഇപ്പോൾ വിരാമം ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ” എന്നും അപേക്ഷിക്കണം।
