Pulastya (traditionally instructing Bhīṣma in Svarga-khaṇḍa contexts)

Concept: Even small, correctly performed dharmic acts purify not only the doer but the lineage; liminal cosmic times (eclipses) heighten the need for ritual purity and prescribed conduct.

Application: Do not postpone dharma waiting for ‘big’ opportunities—regular small acts matter; during eclipses, maintain purity, avoid distractions, do ācamana, japa/dāna as per one’s tradition.

FAQs

It states that even a single properly performed act (karma) can have expansive purificatory power—extending merit and purification to one’s family line up to seven generations.

Rāhu-grasta divākara is the Purāṇic way of describing a solar eclipse. The verse uses eclipse-time as a specific ritual context, emphasizing continued observance of purification and prescribed acts.

Do not neglect dharmic duties due to fear, inauspiciousness, or extraordinary events; maintain purity and discipline (e.g., ācamana) and perform the right action when required.
