Origin of Jaleśvara Tīrtha and the Devas’ Appeal to Śiva against Bāṇa/Tripura
Nārada’s Mission
īśvara uvāca | svāgataṃ tu muniśreṣṭhāḥ kimarthamiha cāgatāḥ | kiṃ duḥkhaṃ ko'nusaṃtāpaḥ kuto vā bhayamāgatam
Īśvara (the Lord)
Concept: True lordship begins with śravaṇa (listening) and compassionate inquiry; fear is addressed by naming its source and understanding its causes.
Application: When someone seeks help, first welcome them, ask clear questions, and identify the root cause before prescribing solutions.

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The speaker is Īśvara (“the Lord”), addressing a group of eminent sages (muniśreṣṭhāḥ).
It sets a compassionate, inquiry-driven tone: the Lord welcomes the sages and asks the cause of their visit, sorrow, distress, and fear—opening a dialogue that leads to instruction or resolution.
It models attentive leadership and empathy: before judging or advising, one should first welcome others and carefully ask about the root of their suffering and fear.
