Narratorial voice (Purāṇic narrator; specific dialogue speaker not identifiable from the single verse)

Concept: Creation unfolds in graded modes of embodiment; even revered ancestral hosts may be subtle (amūrta), indicating multiple layers of existence beyond gross form.

Application: Cultivate reverence for ancestors and subtle realities; remember that spiritual duties (like śrāddha) address beings not always perceptible to the senses.

FAQs

Pitṛgaṇas are the collective hosts of Pitṛs—ancestral beings associated with lineage, rites for ancestors (śrāddha), and the posthumous continuity of family lines in Purāṇic cosmology.

The verse distinguishes categories of beings by whether they possess manifest form (mūrti) or remain subtle/immaterial (amūrta), a common Purāṇic way to classify creation into gross and subtle orders.

It presents Vairāja Prajāpati as a progenitor-linked authority under whom these unembodied Pitṛ-hosts are situated, placing the Pitṛs within a structured genealogy of creation in the Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa.
