വ്യാസൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അവൻ ഹരൻ (ശിവൻ) എന്ന ദേവന്റെ അംശത്തിൽ നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവൻ; കുജാതനെന്നു പറയപ്പെട്ടാലും അവൻ ഭൂമിയുടെ പുത്രനായിരുന്നു. സത്ത്വത്തിൽ നിലകൊണ്ട് സത്ത്വസമ്പൂർണ്ണനായി, വീരനായി, ഭൂമിയിൽ ശക്തിധരനായി വർത്തിച്ചു।
