“Mādhava” is a well-known epithet of Viṣṇu (and also of Kṛṣṇa), indicating the divine protector approached here in the context of battle.
It introduces a martial episode: a figure mounts a divine chariot, armed with a bow, and advances into the conflict where both deva and asura forces are arrayed.
By placing Mādhava at the center of the battlefield narrative, the verse implies divine sovereignty and protection amid cosmic conflict, a common Vaishnava framing of order overcoming chaos.
