‘ആപോഹിഷ്ഠേ’ എന്ന വിധി ബ്രാഹ്മ-പ്രകാര ശുദ്ധിയെന്നു സ്മൃതം; വായവ്യ-പ്രകാരം ഗോറജം (പശുവിന്റെ പൊടി) എന്നു പറയുന്നു. ജലത്തോടൊപ്പം സൂര്യതാപവും മഴയും ചേർന്നു ചെയ്യുന്ന സ്നാനം ‘ദിവ്യസ്നാനം’ എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിതം.
