tataḥ prahṛṣṭahṛdayo vismayotphullalocanaḥ | mūrdhni baddhāṃjalipuṭo mārkaṃḍeyo māhātapāḥ

അപ്പോൾ മഹാതപസ്വിയായ മാർകണ്ഡേയന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആനന്ദത്തിൽ നിറഞ്ഞു, വിസ്മയത്തിൽ കണ്ണുകൾ വിരിഞ്ഞു; അഞ്ജലി കൂട്ടി അത് ശിരസ്സിൽ വെച്ച് നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
